This porcelain charger plate makes a bold, art-forward statement at the table, transforming place settings into layered compositions. Designed on a generous scale, it serves as a striking foundation for dinnerware while allowing its narrative and botanical influences to take center stage. Crafted from premium porcelain, the surface balances refinement and expression—equally suited for elevated dining, gallery-style display, or design-focused interiors.
The charger is intended to frame a dinner plate beautifully, enhancing contrast and depth when paired with minimalist glassware, crisp whites, or richly textured linens. Functional yet sculptural, it bridges fine art and everyday ritual.
Artistic Context
Created within the framework of the series Atardece en Trópico (“Tropical Sunset”), this piece originates from a body of studies titled Vorágine (“Maelstrom”). These works are rooted in the artist’s early encounter with the novel La Vorágine by José Eustasio Rivera—a story of two lovers set between the plains and the Amazon jungle.
The novel’s epilogue lingered in memory over time, resurfacing through sketches and evolving forms that ultimately informed this collection. The result is a piece shaped by remembrance, landscape, and movement—where literature and nature converge in functional design.
